I use soft pastels to capture my emotional response to the landscape.

Jackie Woods Bio

I am a self taught artist and have been  painting for 30 years.  Initially alongside bringing up a family and working as a Nurse Practitioner.  In 2011 I set up a ran an Art Group in Cambridgeshire.  During this time I ran many workshops and created a vibrant art group for 35 members who inspired each other.  I have participated in Open Studios and have organised and held successful art exhibitions.  I am currently an exhibiting member of The Welland Valley Art Society and Northamptonshire and Rutland Open Studios.

I paint in watercolours and dabble in printmaking, so much more to try!  However, my favourite medium are soft pastels.  I like the variety of painterly drawing marks that can be made and the vibrancy and intensity of the colours.  I am inspired by the natural world, the sea, the land, skies, trees, seedheads and birds.  For me, my art is to capture the environment around me that makes me feel content and at peace.

My paintings are created from my sketches and from photos of memorable places I've visited.
